The car in the picture is sitting on an original '57 frame so our body kit will work with any Tri-Five frame that has stock mounting locations. There are many third party manufacturers of tri five frames today. We work with Fat Man Frames on a rolling chassis. Or an owner can take a '57 2 door hard top, add an X member to his '57 frame and drop our convertible body onto it. They could then use all of their original parts to finish the car. The fenders, hood, seats, interior, etc. will all bolt right up. Our parts are engineered to work with original parts or as replacements. Currently, we sell parts through Ecklers Classic Chevy as well as our own website.
The body has steel reinforced plates anywhere there is a mounting point. Be it a body mount, seat mount or hood hinge. We use a press mold technology on many of our parts which gives you a nice finished surface on the top and the bottom. When our molds are pressed together we are also wedging the steel in between the top and bottom molds so the finished part comes out of the mold as one solid piece giving it polished finishes top and bottom while adding to the straight and rigidity of the product. Crating and shipping the body is a flat fee of $800. You can pick it up. If you have a chassis, send it to us and we will put the body on your chassis. We have a steel monocoque frame that runs through our body and is tied into the convertible top mounts and mechanics. There is steel tubing that runs across the floor, through the rockers, up the door jams and inside the windshield frame making it one solid steel frame that is fused into the body adding to the overall strength and rigidity of the car. Our composite body is about 40% lighter than a steel body. This will add to your horsepower at the rear wheels while increasing your fuel economy. Because our car is made from composite materials you won't have to worry about your floor boards rusting through. Composites make for great daily drivers as well, if somebody opens a door into our car or a shopping cart hits the quarter panel, it will bounce off and you won't have a ding. The car in the photos hasn't been painted, sanded or buffed. What you are seeing is the gel coat straight from the mold. We are all about quality so we show our car in the black gel coat because you can't hide anything. We have nothing to hide and are proud of showing our quality. If you see a replica body in white or grey gel coat beware of what they don't want you to see. Gel Coat mixes like paint so if a customer chose to do so we could do an entire car in the Chevy classic baby blue or '57 red. The seams from the molds could be sanded down and buffed out, then you put a coat of clear on to protect the gel coat and you are all set. It's the same as a colored boat. Most owners will choose to paint their cars though and with just a-little blocking our cars will be ready fro primer and paint. Our body package comes with the following: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible Body Shell Driver and passenger side doors. A full trunk with gel coat finish on both sides. A hood with gel coat finish on the top side and the under side. Hood Latch Box Assembly Hood to Radiator Core Support Inner fenders, both passenger side and driver side. What you will need: Drive Train Interior Radiator Core Support Trim Convertible Top Gas Tank Wiring Harness Chassis You can find evewrything you need either through either http://www.classicchevy.com/ or http://www.danchuk.com/ or a combination of the two. Many people ask us if we will make them a turn key car. Currently we do not make turn key cars but we hope to in the future. We are too busy focusing on making our cars the best replica cars out there. We can recommend some builders though.
